Verse of the Week
For the Lord himself, with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call and with the sound of God’s trumpet, will descend from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up in the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will be with the Lord forever.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 NRSVUE

There is a need in our Presbytery for people who are comfortable with technology to serve on various committees. These committees are Recruitment and Representation, or Nominations, Ecclesiastical Business Committee, Committee on Ministry, Committee on Preparation for Ministry, Permanent Judicial Commission, and the Louisiana Board of Publications. If you’re interested in serving, please talk with Pastor Lane.
Mission and Vision
New Iona Presbyterian seeks to be a transforming and visible presence in the Monroe-West Monroe community in missions of justice, ecology, children, and lives committed to worship.
“I was hungry and you fed me,
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink,
I was homeless and you gave me a room,
I was shivering and you gave me clothes,
I was sick and you stopped to visit,
I was in prison and you came to me.”
-Matthew 25:35-40

Roots from Scotland
Although Presbyterians grew out of the Protestant Reformation of the 16th century, it found a home with the people of Scotland. But long before the Reformation, there was Iona. Often referred to as the “Birthplace of Christianity in Scotland”, it is a wee island but, within it’s sparse landscape and sweeping views of the Atlantic, it holds the story of a holy people dedicated to living lives of peace and justice, concern for the environment, and a reverence for the worship of God.
